Notices: October 25, 2024
Dear St. Aidan’s,
It’s that time of year when we commemorate a trio of interrelated holy days in our church calendar: the Feasts of All Hallows’, All Saints’, and All Souls’.
This Sunday, October 27, during the children’s moment in our 10:30 a.m. worship service, we will do a Blessing of the Costumes, blessing the costumes and more importantly the costume-wearers, thanking God for gifts of imagination, joy, and creativity and praying for safe trick-or-treating for all. We invite any children or youth who would like to wear their Halloween costumes to church on this Sunday to do so. (Please be sure that the costumes worn to church are reasonable as far as safety and good taste for a worship service. Thank you.)
The following weekend, we will observe All Saints’ Day, transferring our observance of this feast to Sunday, November 3, in both the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services. Then that afternoon at 4:00, our choirs and clergy will collaborate to present an All Souls’ Evensong at St. Nicholas, Birch Cliff. We hope you will join us for a beautiful service that provides us a way to remember and pray for those whom we love who have died in the past year. Please come support our choirs and experience the evensong liturgy, which is a distinctive part of our Anglican tradition.
Grace and peace,
Becky+
