Dear St. Aidan’s,

This coming Sunday, runners will be making their way around the city in the annual Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Be aware that Queen Street East will be closed between Woodbine Ave. and Beech Ave., (8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) which means some of you may find it more challenging (or even impossible) to make your way to worship with us at the church. If you find this to be the case, please consider joining the 10:30 service via our Zoom livestream (scroll down for details on how to connect).

Hopefully by now you’ve noticed that we’re focusing on the theme of Walk in Love for our stewardship (Joyful Giving) season this year. Stewardship is the word many churches use to talk about being intentional in how we share our time, talents, and treasure (money) with our local church. If as Christians we believe that all that we have is a gift from God, then it makes sense for us (whether as individuals or as families) to consider prayerfully how we can, in turn, give some of what we have back to God through supporting St. Aidan’s.

A church has many expenses—utilities, personnel, community outreach, and supplies for education, hospitality, and worship (to name just a few). Some of the financial costs of running a church can be mitigated when people volunteer their time and talent. For instance, we’re looking to re-launch our in-house snow removal team (if you’re interested, talk with one of the wardens). This has the potential to save the church thousands of dollars per year, money that can instead go toward other ministry expenses. There are so many ways to support our church!

I hope that you’ll consider attending one of the Walk in Love gatherings being hosted over the next couple of weeks in various church members’ homes—or attend the gathering here on Sun., Nov. 10 (following the 10:30 service). These gatherings offer you the chance to reconnect with St. Aidan’s friends, and meet new ones, while sharing stories of how we’ve all experienced God’s love expressed through this church community. If you haven’t yet received your invitation, contact Adam Gordon to learn more about a gathering happening near you.

Grace and peace,

Becky+

 4. Come sing with the St. Aidan’s Choir! Are you passionate about singing, or simply love the sound of music? We invite you to become a part of the St. Aidan’s Choir this fall! Our choir is a warm and welcoming community, open to members of all ages and experience levels—whether you’re a seasoned vocalist or just starting out, there’s a place for you here. We’re looking to grow our choir with at least four new voices, and we’d love for you to be one of them. We’ll be scheduling brief, informal meetings to chat about your musical interests and conduct a simple vocal assessment—nothing too formal, just a chance to get to know you! Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings, and there are exciting opportunities to travel and perform with the group this season. If you’re interested or want to learn more, please contact Michael at music@staidansinthebeach.com. We can’t wait to sing with you!

 5. Euchre: Join us on Tuesday nights from 7-9 p.m. for a fun and friendly evening of progressive Euchre downstairs in the parish hall. Beginners welcome. Cost is $5.00 to play with all proceeds going to support St. Aidan’s community outreach to neighbours in need.

The next lunch held here at St. Aidan’s is Tues., Oct. 29, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. As part of St. Aidan’s involvement in the Beach Interfaith Outreach Committee, we support the Grace Pascoe Care Centre. Your weekly donations (to the basket by the church office) are gratefully received.
