2. Blessing of Animals & Pets – Saturday, October 4, 11 a.m. (West Garden)

Join us for an outdoor service in celebration and thanksgiving for animals and pets! Bring along your pet (or a picture of them) so that they can be blessed during the service. In case of poor weather, the service will be moved indoors to the entrance of the church. 

 

3.  Meditation at St Aidan’s!  We are looking at re-starting meditation at St Aidan’s in the near future. Are you interested? What type, dates, times, places would work for you? Come and share your ideas after service, 8:30 and 10:30, during Coffee – in the Maple Room, Oct. 5, and also email your ideas, to Martha Asselin: martha@mminternational.ca or phone / text 416 845 7025. Please bring your ideas, hopes and heart to this conversation on our spiritual journey through meditation.

 

4. We are inviting all parents of children and youth to join us in the Willow room on

Sun., Oct. 5 after the service. This is an opportunity to give feedback on what's going well and what we could do to improve our ministries. For more information, please contact Elizabeth.

 

5. There will be a youth worship night on Sun., Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall. All youth grades 6-12 are welcome as we praise God together. For more information, please contact Elizabeth.

 

 

 

6. Outdoor crèche: The wood from the outdoor crèche is available for anyone interested. It could be used to make a playhouse. Contact Fausta at warden.people@staidansinthebeach.com.

 

7. Euchre: Join us on Tuesday nights starting Tues., Oct. 14 from 7-9 p.m. for a fun and friendly evening of progressive Euchre downstairs in the Parish Hall. Beginners welcome. Cost is $5; all proceeds support St. Aidan’s community outreach.

8. Karaoke Fundraiser – tickets available! Get ready to sing your heart out (or just listen) and bid on items - it's going to be a blast!

9. Volunteers needed: St. Aidan's Out of the Cold (OOTC) Suppers are resuming on Monday evenings starting on Nov. 3. We need volunteers for a variety of tasks: greet people at the front door, help prepare the snack table, prep food, scrape plates, wash dishes, help clean up after the meal.... and perhaps as importantly as the food nutrition... to make people feel welcome. 

The week before the first meal, we will have a briefing for volunteers, introduce you to the team leaders and provide a schedule. If you wish to work with a specific team leader you can do it then, otherwise we will assign people to one of four teams (All the team leads are from St. Aidan's.) 

If you could volunteer one Monday every fourth week, please fill in the sign-up sheet at the back of the church or speak to Bruce Mori (treasurer@staidansinthebeach.com) or Michael Van Dusen, (mjpvandusen@gmail.com) co-chairs of OOTC. 

 

10. Urgent need for volunteers for the live streaming ministry.  Anyone interested in volunteering, please contact Michael Pirri music@staidansinthebeach.com.

 

11. Volunteers are needed to host Sunday Coffee Hour. The sign up sheet is in the Narthex. If you have any questions, please contact C. Morfitt.

 

12. Garden Committee Work Days: Thursdays, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.: The Garden Committee will meet on Thursdays, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. through the end of November. Join us for coffee, snacks, weeding, mulching and planting!  Email C. Ebner for more info. 

 

13. Our parent and tots’ music group continues Saturday mornings. We need people to welcome families into our space. If you are able to help on one or more Saturdays, please contact Elizabeth.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

14. Basement Space – Potential Renter: A licence agreement with a preschool has been submitted to the Diocese for approval to rent the Silver Birch, Spruce, Maple and Willow Rooms.   A decision will be available mid-October.  

 

15. Wednesday Eucharistic Service: Our Wednesday 10:30 a.m. service of Holy Communion will continue each week. Please join us and enjoy some refreshments afterwards.

 

16. Incumbent Search:  The Wardens met with the Bishop in July to review applications and the selection process is ongoing.  Reverend Benjamin's part-time contract had been extended until December 2025 to ensure coverage during the process.

 

17. Diocese of Toronto Workshops & Retreats: Practical Advice on Legacy Giving (Free Event):

This fall, the Anglican Diocese of Toronto Foundation will host Wine, Wisdom & Generosity, a series of relaxed, inspiring gatherings. Enjoy a glass of wine and light refreshments and explore how your generosity can make a lasting impact through planned giving. Attendees will hear practical advice on planning their legacy for their parish, learn about the foundation’s free online will-writing program, and have the chance to connect with bishops and fellow Anglicans in meaningful conversation. These free events are open to all. The dates are:

Tuesday, Oct. 7, 7-9 p.m. at St. Paul’s Bloor Street (Bloor near Church St.)

Wednesday, Oct. 29, 5-7 p.m. at Redeemer (Bloor St. at Avenue Rd.)

Thursday, Nov. 13, 5-7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist, Norway (Woodbine Ave.)

 

18. Diocese of Toronto: Season of Spiritual Renewal Workshops & Retreats

The Season of Spiritual Renewal fall workshops are now open for registration. Some are offered during the day and some in the evening. Explore both the single- and multi-session workshops and courses.

  • Workshops include “Hospitality and the Spiritual Life of a Church” (Janet Marshall), and “A New & Ancient Evangelism” (Judy Paulsen).
