2. Summer worship schedule: Beginning Sunday, June 28, we will move to our summer worship schedule on Sundays, sharing in one worship service together at 9:30 a.m.
3. Garden Work Day, Saturday, May 30, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Everyone is invited to join the Garden Committee on Wednesdays, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and once a month on Saturday mornings. Our next Saturday work day is May 30 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. We will be mulching leaves and preparing garden beds for planting later in the season. Coffee and snacks will be served! Please contact Courtney for access to the Garden Committee job board if you’d like to work in the garden on your own or with a friend on another day.
4. Blessing of the Bikes, May 31 after the 10:30 a.m. service: Julie will be blessing bicycles, motorcycles, scooters and other 2 wheeled modes of transportation. Join us by bringing all and any of these modes to church for the blessing. We're wishing everyone a safe and blessed summer on 2 wheels.
5. Eco-Spirituality video: May 31, after the 10:30 service (and blessing of bikes), there will be a 23 minute video and discussion in the chapel. The inspiring and eloquent video (and accompanying notes) is from the theologian Dr. Carmody Grey, who is a member of the Laudato Si Institute, set up to ensure that Pope Francis's encyclical on "Care for our Common Home" is implemented. The second part of the video and discussion will take place next week. A light lunch will be available.
6. Book sale! Stock up on your summer reads and puzzles. Sunday, June 7 and Sunday, June 14 after the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services in the Parish Hall.
7. Spring cleaning! We are looking for volunteers to give the kitchen and a few other parts of the church a spring cleaning. Please email Fausta if you are available. Date TBD.
8. Walk in Love Campaign Final Report: Thank you everyone for participating in our annual Walk in Love campaign. The campaign was a huge success with 43 guests at our two Walk in Love dinners. 31 pledges were received, including 23 increases and 6 new donors. 59 of our donors are now giving by a pre-authorized payment method. Your support enabled Corporation to reinstate and fill the caretaker position and gives us the confidence to fulfill our ministry objectives this year. Thank you again for your support of Saint Aidan’s and our work in the Beach community. We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
9. Sunday Lunch: Please join us on Sunday, June 21 for lunch in the Hall after the 10:30 a.m. service.
10. EERC update: We are still awaiting a date for the arrival of the Somali family of 5 that the EERC is sponsoring. We now have commitments for everything on the list of cleaning supplies. Many thanks to everyone who offered to contribute.
11. Donations for the Send a Kid to Camp campaign may be given to St. Aidan's until mid-June, at which time the total amount received will be passed along to Moorelands Kids. If you are giving via St. Aidan’s, you may do so by e-transfer, cash, or a cheque payable to “Church of St. Aidan”, and please include a note/memo that it is for Moorelands. Alternatively, you can donate via Canada Helps (either St. Aidan’s or Moorelands Kids), or cheques can be sent directly to Moorelands Kids at 251 Consumers Road, Suite 601, Toronto, Ontario, M2J 4R3. Thank you for your support.
