3. Guided virtual tour of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on April 18

On Tuesday, April 18, we plan to host a virtual tour of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on large screen in our church basement hall. This important museum, located on Indigenous ancestral lands in Winnipeg, is home to an impressive range of galleries and exhibits about human rights defenders and history – and you can visit them online by Zoom, all from the comfort of our church hall!  In our interactive 90-minute tour, our guide will narrate our journey with powerful, inspiring stories, and engage us in conversation about human rights in Canada and around the world.  Tea and treats will be served at 1:30pm, and the tour will begin at 2:00pm. All welcome. For more information about the museum and tours, go to: https://humanrights.ca/.

4. Supper at St. Aidan’s, April 20, 5:45 – 7:15 pm

On Thursday, April 20 we will once again host our neighbours in the Beach for a fun get-together and a hearty home-cooked Supper at St. Aidans! We hope you’ll join us, bring your friends and neighbours, and have a chance to hang out with other families in the church and community.  There’s no charge, and all are welcome!

5. Musical Evening Fundraiser for Beach Cares

Join the Beaches community Friday April 28 at 7:30 PM at St. Aidan’s Church for an evening of Folk Rock, Show tunes and Folk music in support of The Beach Cares and the Ukrainian-Syrian couple, Wesam and Olesia Ekthiar, whom we are sponsoring.  The Boardwalk Cowboys, Grace Rockett and Graduates of Humber’s Theatre Arts Program and St. Aidan’s Regrets will perform. There is no cost for the concert, but the event is to raise funds for the couple. The Beach Cares is a coalition of St. Aidan’s, Beach United and the Beach Community that came together in August 2015 to sponsor refugees fleeing from the war in Syria. Since then we have supported two families and a young woman who came by herself. The couple, who arrived on March 19 are the Syrian brother and Ukrainian sister-in-law of the young woman.  If you are willing to help set up or take down from the concert, please speak to Michael Van Dusen

6. Retirement Announcement

Transitions are often bittersweet and it is in this spirit that we announce the retirement on June 30, 2023 of Margaret Allen, St Aidan’s “enduring” parish administrator. Margaret has been a constant at St Aidan’s for almost 40 years (!), supporting the day-to-day functioning of the church, the ministry of 12 priests and the work of churchwardens and parish committees too numerous to count.  She has been the welcoming face of St Aidan’s for parishioners and the community.  She will be greatly missed.  On Sunday June 25 we will celebrate Margaret and her longstanding service to St. Aidan’s after the 10:30 service.  More to come . . .

7. Altar Flowers for April

Sunday April 30th is open for a flower dedication. If you are interested, the cost is $80 for the two vases. Please contact Hian-Lie Liem at 416-706-3775 or at hian.lie.liem@gmail.com

8. Euchre

Join us on Tuesday nights at 7pm for a fun and friendly evening of progressive Euchre downstairs in the main hall.  Beginners welcome.  $5.00 to play.  All proceeds go to St. Aidan’s Church community outreach.
