Originally from Britain, Lucy studied for ministry in England and worked as a deaconess for three years. She emigrated to Canada in 1984 in order to be ordained a priest. She served in parishes in Montreal and Kapuskasing from 1984 to 1990, then spent 17 years as an ecumenical chaplain at the University of Guelph. In 2008 she moved to Victoria, B.C. to return to parish ministry, and in 2011 was appointed to St. Aidan’s in the Beach. She and her husband David Howells (also an Anglican priest) have three adult children, and love walking their two dogs on the beach - rain, snow, or shine.
