After singing a song Gemma will then open a separate Zoom session for the children. A link will be provided.3. Service Videos on Website and YouTubeWe are recording our Zoom services for those unable to attend them live. Look for them on the church website here: https://www.staidansinthebeach.com/services/pages/virtual-services or on our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3Gtpvu9EWn9-g7oZ1VyKfA.4. Black History Weekly CalendarAs we enter the new year of 2022, we have begun a weekly practice of celebrating a person of African descent who has made important contributions to Canadian existence. At the beginning of our Sunday services, we have a short acknowledgment of a significant figure followed by a special prayer. Jeff Nowers has compiled a calendar of “saints”, some well known and others lesser known, that we are following. This is all in keeping with the social justice motion passed at our last annual vestry meeting to dismantle anti-Black racism in our church and in ourselves. For more information about this initiative, please contact Jeff Nowers: nowers416@gmail.com5. Saving Us Book Study Final SessionOn Tuesday January 11 at 7:30 pm we have our last presentation and discussion on Katharine Hayhoe's book Saving Us. Lucy will lead it, and the Zoom link is here: https://utoronto.zoom.us/j/81068875566  6. Financial Campaign Kick-OffOur financial campaign, Strong Roots New Season, kicks off next Sunday, January 16th! Parishioner Paul Ebner will be our special speaker that morning. All the information about the campaign, including the weekly updates and case details, can be found here: strongrootsnewseason.com7. Year-End Financial UpdateThe Wardens would like to thank you for your generous response to our December letter. Your additional Christmas offerings, or taking the opportunity to get caught up on your annual donations, allowed us to realize about 93.5% of our 2021 budget target for regular parish offerings. With the renovations and pandemic also lowering our expenses, due to us not being able to be fully operational, we are hoping to finish 2021 without a deficit. Hopefully 2022 sees us return to our normal, active community, enhanced by the facilities provided by our newly refurbished building, but doing so does require sufficient financial resources. We will need to raise as much or more in 2022 than the target we had set for 2021. If you would like to consider moving to pre-authorized debits from your bank account to make it easier for you to fulfill your ongoing support for the ministries at St. Aidan’s, please go to the Giving page of the website and print off the PAG Authorization Form to sign up: https://www.staidansinthebeach.com/giving 8. Altar Guild Flowers and Aumbry CandleOnce we are back in the church we are going to resume our donation programme for altar flowers and aumbry candles. If you would like to dedicate the flowers or candle for a particular Sunday the cost for flowers is $80 for one Sunday and the aumbry candle is $40 for a full month.
