Black History Month and Weekly CalendarThrough the month of February St Aidan's will be observing Black History Month, with special themes, music, speakers and reflections in our Sunday services. A small group has been planning this program, and we look forward to this way of centering and celebrating Black lives. We have also begun a weekly practice of celebrating a person of African descent who has made important contributions to Canadian existence. At the beginning of our Sunday services, we have a short acknowledgment of a significant figure followed by a special prayer. This is all in keeping with the social justice motion passed at our last annual vestry meeting to dismantle anti-Black racism in our church and in ourselves. For more information about this initiative, please contact Jeff Nowers: 8. Altar Guild Flowers and Aumbry CandleOnce we are back in the church we are going to resume our donation programme for altar flowers and aumbry candles. If you would like to dedicate the flowers or candle for a particular Sunday the cost for flowers is $80 for one Sunday and the aumbry candle is $40 for a full month.
