Jeff Nowers to Join the Society of St Francis, January 2 At our 9:30 am Zoom service on Sunday Jan 2 Jeff will be formally received as a Companion of the Society of St Francis (the Franciscans), by fellow Franciscan Luigi Battista, who will also preach that morning. Companions, SSF, are part of an international religious community of committed Christians from all denominations who are inspired by the way St Francis and St Clare followed Jesus Christ, and who commit themselves to following that path. 6. Black History Weekly Calendar As we enter the new year of 2022, we will begin a weekly practice of celebrating a person of African descent who has made important contributions to Canadian existence. At the beginning of our Sunday services, we will have a short acknowledgment of a significant figure followed by a special collect. Jeff Nowers is compiling a calendar of “saints”, some well known and others lesser known, that we will follow. This is all in keeping with the social justice motion passed at our last annual vestry meeting to dismantle anti-Black racism in our church and in ourselves. For more information about this initiative, please contact Jeff Nowers. 7. Financial Campaign Website All the information about our financial campaign, Strong Roots New Season, can now be found here, including the weekly updates and case details:strongrootsnewseason.com 8. Altar Guild Flowers and Aumbry Candle Once we are back in the church we are going to resume our donation programme for altar flowers and aumbry candles. If you would like to dedicate the flowers or candle for a particular Sunday the cost for flowers is $80 for one Sunday and the aumbry candle is $40 for a full month.
