The formation of the PSC is set forth in Canon 10 of the Constitution and Canons of the Diocese of Toronoto. It consists of 6-8 members of the parish including one appointed Warden/Deputy Warden and one elected Warden/Deputy Warden, one of which must be a Warden. The composition of the PSC reflects the diverse communities within the parish. Our PSC was elected at a Special Vestry on May 15, 2022.
The PSC represents the views of the entire parish. The PSC receives a short-list of applicants from the Bishop and conducts interviews. After prayer and discussion, the PSC makes a recommendation to the Bishop. The Bishop makes the appointment of the new Incumbent.
Yes. The hopes and needs of the parish are a very important part of developing the Parish Profile which drives the search for a new incumbent. Opportunities to provide input have included the PSC survey conducted in the fall as well as input shared directly with members of the PSC. The PSC continues to encourage input from parishioners throughout the process. A link at the bottom of this page provides an additional opportunity to submit questions and input.
The parish does not meet prospective candidates. The application and interview process is confidential for many reasons - for example, applicants are often currently holding positions at other parishes and their community does not know of their interest in the position.
Because of the confidential nature of the selection process, there will not be a meeting to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate. However, the PSC is soliciting feedback at a meeting after church on March 5. This will be another opportunity to share traits the PSC should be looking for during the interview process.
We take everyone’s feedback seriously. As your representatives we work hard to balance diverse and sometimes opposing viewpoints. The PSC meets regularly, generally every other week, to strategize and review feedback. Please pray for discernment as we continue to work on your behalf.
The Parish Selection Committee has created a Parish Profile to provide prospective candidates for the vacant incumbent position an overview of who we are as a parish and who we aspire to be.
