The Church of St. Aidan in the Beach

Sunday June 3 6:30-8:30 AM, Help serve breakfast to people living on the margins at St. Stephen’s Church near the corner of College and Spadina. There are a variety of jobs from making juice and cutting bread to serving people, to doing dishes and bussing tables. The primary requirement is the ability to treat all people with dignity and respect as God’s children. St. Aidan’s has been asked if we will host breakfast at St. Stephens on the second Sunday of each month, as well as the first Sunday.  

For more than seven years people from St. Aidan’s have gone to St. Stephen’s in the Fields on the first Sunday of the month to prepare, serve and clean up from a breakfast for people who live on the margins of society.  Frequently, people from St. Aidan’s have also come to help out on other Sundays.  Over the years more than 60 people from the parish have come at least once.

Two other churches have volunteered to cover other Sundays of the month.  However, the main volunteers and coordinators of the parish that took care of the second Sunday of the month for the past three years have had to stop coming as of May, this year.

For the second Sunday of the month we would like to establish a regular team of 4-5 people with some people who would be prepared to come on an occasional basis if a fill-in is needed. (The first Sunday’s of the month tend to be long weekends in July, August, September and often in January so we will continue to ask for volunteers on an ad hoc basis for the first Sundays.)
